In each sandstone belt, there are always several layers, successively stacked on top of each other, ranging in thickness from 1 to 30 centimetres. The variety of sandstone layers predestines it for an almost unlimited range of uses in garden and building architecture. The thinnest sandstone layers of 1-3 cm are suitable for bonded tiles such as bathrooms, kitchens, fireplaces. Thicker layers are used more as self-supporting cladding and sandstone walls. Pavers (or sandstone stepping stones) in thicknesses of 3-5, 4-7, 7-15 cm can be used e.g. instead of interlocking pavers or as decorative sandstone walkways in gardens.
